Welcome all the students in SITCOE for better engineering education in various selected
branches. The institute has emerged as one of the best engineering education offering
institutes. It is my proud privilege to be the Head of Basic Sciences and Humanities Department
at SIT College of Engineering (Autonomous) Yadrav Ichalkaranji.
Basic Sciences is a vital aspect and the foundation for Engineering and Technology
discipline. The department includes the subjects like Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry,
Applied Physics and Communication skills. The Department has four doctorate, four NET/SET
Qualified faculties. Development in Basic Sciences and humanities promotes progress in related
fields of Engineering. The need for reading basic sciences in the engineering courses is
emphasized and focused which prepares the student for higher courses in main stream of
engineering.
The department plays a major role for creating students an appreciation for the
fundamentals for all Engineering branches which can perform better in their chosen areas of
study. The aim of the department is to mould students and start their journey as professional
engineers. We take utmost care of the newly admitted students as they are at transition period
from schooling to college life. To help them in getting adapted to the change various
activities/programs such as Induction Orientation Programme, Project Based Learning (PBL),
Career Awareness, Mentorship and proctor system, Continuous Assessment, various
competitions, industry visit and Parent Meets are conducted. Department has ‘First Year
Engineering Students Association’ (FESA) which organizes various events for students. Social
and academic events such as Teachers Day, Engineers Day etc were organized by FESA.
All the faculties, staff and first year students are much privileged to have 8 classrooms
and 1 smart classroom, all newly set up labs of Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Language
lab, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Computer Programming, Basic Mechanical
and Electrical Lab exclusively devoted for first year academics. We are grateful to the
Management of SITCOE for providing this facility realizing the need of the time.
I hope you would enjoy new education policy and our curriculum and will be successful
in engineering education with good academic excellence.
Wish you all the best…
